Justice Carol A. Beier is a native of Kansas City, Kansas. After undergraduate work and law school in Lawrence, she worked in Washington, D.C., and was in private practice in Wichita before her appointment to the Kansas Court of Appeals in 2000. Three years later she was named a Supreme Court justice.
