External stakeholder request for access

Each stakeholder organization must take the following steps to request expanded access:

  1. Designate a point of contact. Each stakeholder must designate a point of contact and an alternate point of contact. The point of contact will be responsible for communicating with the Office of Judicial Administration about users in the agency or office.

  2. Complete the initial interest form. The point of contact must complete the External Stakeholder Request for Expanded Access to Kansas eCourt Case Information.

  3. Sign the point of contact designation form. The Office of Judicial Administration will send the point of contact a designation form and stakeholder agreement to sign and return. All forms will be circulated electronically.

  4. Complete the user access interest form. All users requesting expanded access must complete the user request form.

  5. Register for a portal account. All users must register for an account using the Register link on the Kansas District Court Public Access Portal. Once the user registers, a public role will be created.

  6. Sign the user subscriber agreement. Once approved, the user and the point of contact will receive a user subscriber agreement to sign. When the subscriber agreement is returned and approved, the Office of Judicial Administration will modify the user's role from public to the appropriate stakeholder role. The Office of Judicial Administration will notify the user that expanded access to case information is available.

Attorney expanded access

Kansas attorneys in good standing may request expanded access to information in the Kansas eCourt case management system. Access is through the Kansas District Court Public Access Portal.

Supreme Court Rule 25 describes case information available through the public access portal. Case information that is public but not on the portal is available through a terminal at the courthouse.

Two examples of case types not available on the public access portal are domestic and juvenile offender. Case information for these case types is available through the courthouse terminal.

Expanded access will be comparable to access using a courthouse terminal, but it will be available remotely through the Kansas District Court Public Access Portal.   Attorneys may also request access to Protection from Abuse and Protection from Stalking cases.

Steps to request expanded access

Each attorney must take the following steps to request expanded access:

  1. Request access. Attorneys must complete the Attorney Request for Expanded Access to Kansas eCourt Case Information.

  2. Register for a portal account. All attorneys who request expanded access must register for an account using the Register link on the Kansas District Court Public Access Portal. Once the attorney registers, a public role will be created. When the attorney's request for expanded access is approved, the Office of Judicial Administration will modify the attorney's role from public to attorney, and we will notify the attorney that expanded access is available.

Troubleshoot access issues

The Office of Judicial Administration prepared the Kansas District Court Public Access Portal User Troubleshooting Guide to give users guidance for resolving access issues.
