On July 1, 2021, the Department for Children and Families will begin using the Adoption Tracking Tool statewide.

The Adoption Tracking Tool was created as part of the Kansas Strong Project. It is designed to reduce the length of time to adoption after a child becomes eligible. The tool was piloted in eight counties starting in 2020: Allen; Douglas; Franklin; Lyon; Norton; Reno; Shawnee; and Wyandotte.

The  Adoption Tracking Tool aims to:

  • clarify and streamline procedures for adoption;

  • improve communication between caseworkers and courts; and

  • expand efforts to identify barriers.
