TOPEKA — The Kansas District Judges Association, an organization open to all state district court judges, has elected officers to serve the organization in the fiscal year that begins July 1.

Judge Robert J. Frederick was elected president. He is a judge in the 25th Judicial District, composed of Finney, Greeley, Hamilton, Kearny, Scott, and Wichita counties, and presides over cases in Finney and Kearny counties.

Judge Frederick is a graduate of the University of Kansas and Washburn University School of Law. He has served as a district judge in the 25th Judicial District since 2001. He has been a member of the Kansas Judicial Council's Family Law Advisory Committee since 2006 and a member of the Kansas Supreme Court Judicial Needs Assessment Committee since 2010.

Before becoming a judge, he served as Kearny County Attorney, Deerfield City Attorney, and as an attorney for the Lakin public school district. He also had a general trial practice in Lakin from 1976 to 2001.

Other officers elected:

  • Judge James Fleetwood was elected president-elect. He is chief judge of the 18th Judicial District, a one-county district composed of Sedgwick County.

  • Judge Bruce Gatterman was elected secretary. He is chief judge of the 24th Judicial District, composed of Edwards, Hodgeman, Lane, Ness, Pawnee, and Rush counties.

  • Judge Dan Creitz was elected treasurer. He is chief judge of the 31st Judicial District, composed of Allen, Neosho, Wilson, and Woodson counties.

The new officers were elected at a statewide conference for judges conducted in Topeka.

Stepping down as president is Judge Patricia Macke Dick. She is chief judge of the 27th Judicial District, a one-county district composed of Reno County.
