District Magistrate Judge Ann DixsonTOPEKA—After serving 21 years as district magistrate judge, Judge Ann Dixson will retire when her current term ends January 6, 2017.

Dixson was appointed to the bench in 1995.

"I have been blessed to serve Kiowa County, the 16th judicial district and the state of Kansas," Dixson said. "I will miss the interaction with my fellow judges, attorneys, and all divisions of law enforcement. During my time on the bench I have served 20 years hearing child in need of care cases in Ford County, and I have endeavored to help families learn new skills to become stronger, healthier, and happier."

Dixson has served on the Magistrate Judge Training and Certification Committee, the Education Committee, and multiple other committees. She is past president of the Kansas District Magistrate Judges Association and served on its board in assorted capacities for 18 years.

"One of my proudest moments was being named the 2003 Lee Nusser Outstanding District Magistrate Judge of the Year," Dixson said.

After retiring from the bench, Dixson will enjoy spending more time with her family and investing into the lives of her nine grandchildren. She will also dedicate more time to gardening, artistic pursuits, and volunteering in her community.
