Citing decisions

When citing published decisions, Supreme Court Rule 6.08 requires you to use the official citation followed by any generally recognized reporter system citation. Under Supreme Court Rule 7.04, you should not cite unpublished decisions unless it has persuasive value and would help the court. 
 

Changes to decisions

Not all decisions posted online are final decisions. 

After the court files a decision, which is also referred to as an opinion, a party may request rehearing, modification, or further review, or the court may otherwise determine a change is needed. 

Also, the Reporter of Decisions completes a final edit of all published decisions before they are printed in the Kansas Reports or Kansas Court of Appeals Reports.
