TOPEKA—Shawnee County District Judge Frank J. Yeoman Jr. was reappointed to a two-year term to the board of directors of the Kansas Guardianship Program. His term will run from July 1 to June 30, 2019.

The appointment was made by Chief Justice Lawton R. Nuss of the Kansas Supreme Court.

Yeoman currently serves as chair of the board. The Kansas Guardianship Program recruits volunteers willing to be appointed by a district court as guardians or conservators for adults who have been declared legally unable to manage their lives and financial affairs and who do not have family members available to do that. Guardians or conservators, who receive training and support from the Kansas Guardianship Program, advocate for and protect the rights of these individuals.

In 2016, there were more than 750 volunteers serving as guardians and conservators for more than 1,400 people.

The statewide program, which is based in Manhattan, is governed by a seven-member board, six of whom are appointed by the governor and one by the chief justice.

Other members are Dave Heinemann, Topeka; Rep. Barbara Ballard, Lawrence; Ruth Graham, Topeka; Larry Hapgood, Topeka; Paul Kallman, vice chair, Scandia; and Wayne Radford, Topeka.
