Four judges appointed to judicial education committee

TOPEKA—Olathe Municipal Court Judge Katherine McElhinney and Shawnee Municipal Court Judge Karen Torline were appointed to the Municipal Court Judges Education Committee by Chief Justice Lawton R. Nuss of the Kansas Supreme Court.

Additionally, Baxter Springs Municipal Judge David Hensley and Manhattan Municipal Judge Patrick Caffey were reappointed to the committee.

Their terms begin July 1 and end June 30, 2020.

The committee recommends and organizes education and training programs for municipal judges and certifies municipal judges who are not lawyers.

Members of the committee include municipal judges, a representative of the Office of Judicial Administration, the president and past-president of the Kansas Municipal Judges Association, and a Supreme Court justice.
