TOPEKA—Wyandotte County District Judge Constance Alvey, Charles Harris of Wichita, and Theresa "Trisha" Thomas of Topeka were reappointed to three-year terms on the Kansas Child Support Guidelines Advisory Committee.

Chief Justice Lawton R. Nuss of the Kansas Supreme Court appointed them to continue serving from July 1 through June 30, 2021.

The Kansas Child Support Guidelines are rules that judges and hearing officers follow to decide how much child support each parent is to pay toward raising their children.

The advisory committee is composed of individuals with experience in child support and includes judges, attorneys, an accountant, and parents. The Supreme Court also uses an independent economist to provide the advisory committee an analysis of economic changes in the state and nation regarding costs and expenditures associated with raising children.

Harris is an attorney representative on the committee; Thomas is a representative from the Kansas Department for Children and Families, Child Support Services.

Other members of the committee are Johnson County District Judge Thomas Foster, chair; Sherri Loveland of Lawrence, an attorney representative; Amy Beardy of Wichita, a parent representative; Michelle Slinkard of Topeka, an attorney representative; Doni Mooberry of Lawrence, an attorney representative with accounting and tax experience; Brian Mull of Wichita, a parent representative; Miami County Chief Judge Amy Harth; and Carol Park of Hays, an attorney representative.
