District Judge Frank Yeoman Jr.TOPEKA—Longtime Shawnee County District Judge Frank Yeoman Jr. will retire Sept. 30.

Yeoman was appointed as a district judge for the 3rd Judicial District in 1990. He previously was in private practice, served as administrator and hearing officer for the juvenile court, and was assistant and first assistant district attorney.

He currently is chair of Kansas Guardianship Program board of directors. The Kansas Guardianship Program recruits volunteers willing to be appointed by a district court as guardians or conservators for adults who have been declared legally unable to manage their lives and financial affairs and who do not have family members available to do that. Guardians or conservators, who receive training and support from the Kansas Guardianship Program, advocate for and protect the rights of these individuals.

The judge is a graduate of Southern Nazarene University in Oklahoma City and Washburn University School of Law. He and his wife have two sons and two granddaughters.

Yeoman expressed his gratitude to the voters of Shawnee County for retaining him in office seven times since his appointment.

"I am honored to have been allowed to serve them," he said.
