Judge Anthony J. Powell was born in Minnesota and graduated from The George Washington University and worked in the U.S. House and U.S. Senate before coming to Kansas to attend law school. After a private practice career and four terms in the Kansas House of Representatives, he was elected a Sedgwick County district judge and served 11 years before his appointment to the Court of Appeals.
