Scheduling

A. Screening Procedures

A case is ready to be set on a docket after the time has ended for filing both the appellant's and the appellee's briefs. All ready cases are given an initial screening to determine complexity so that a balanced docket can be prepared.

B. Research Memoranda

A research attorney is assigned by the director of central research and is responsible for the timely preparation of prehearing memoranda to assist the assigned panel in the further development of underlying facts and applicable law in each appeal. For simple summary calendar cases, the cases may be submitted to the panel without a prehearing memorandum.

C. Summary Calendar Cases

Summary calendar cases are placed on regular dockets to be decided without oral argument as provided in Supreme Court Rule 7.02(f).
