Review of Guidelines

Chapter 45, Code of Federal Regulations, Section 302.56 requires that the state guidelines for child support must be "reviewed at least every four years to ensure that their application results in the determination of appropriate child support amounts." Therefore, these Kansas guidelines shall be reviewed by the Child Support Guidelines Advisory Committee no later than July 1, 2011, and at least once every four years thereafter.

Existing Child Support Guidelines are currently under review by the Child Support Guidelines Advisory Committee.
All Child Support Guidelines Advisory Committee meetings are open to the public. Meetings are typically held at the Kansas Judicial Center, Topeka, Kansas.

Copies of minutes approved by the committee are available online.

Final recommendations are expected to be delivered to the Kansas Supreme Court in August of 2011. The advisory committee will take comments on the proposed changes in late 2010 or early 2011. The Supreme Court is expected to make a determination on any changes to the Child Support Guidelines in time for a new order to be issued with an effective date of January 1, 2012.
