Michael B. Buser was born in Kansas City, Missouri on January 10, 1952. He attended Shawnee Mission South High School in Overland Park. In 1974, he graduated from Georgetown University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in theology and American government. He was awarded the Brennan medal as the graduating senior who demonstrated the highest proficiency in theology.
