Honorable Jerry G. Elliott
Judge of the Court of Appeals 1987- 2010

Hon Jerry G ElliottJerry G. Elliott was born in Fort Scott on November 25, 1936. He attended Hutchinson Community College where he was a state junior college debate champion. He was graduated from the University of Kansas with an AB degree in 1958. While at KU, he was a member of Pi Sigma Alpha (political science honorary), Scabbard and Blade (military honorary), Owl Society (junior men's honorary), Sachem (senior men's honorary) and was business manager of the Jayhawker (yearbook). Judge Elliott received his LLB, with distinction, from KU in 1964.

A Navy ROTC student, he was on active duty in the Navy, serving on aircraft carriers and admirals' staffs of Cruiser Division 5 and Destroyer Flotilla 7 as staff intelligence officer and assistant anti-air warfare officer. In law school, he was a member of Order of Coif, editor-in-chief of the Kansas Law Review, and the recipient of the C.C. Stewart award as the outstanding member of his law school class.

Upon graduation from law school, he clerked for Judge Wesley E. Brown of the U.S. District Court in Wichita until joining Foulston, Siefkin, Powers & Eberhardt in 1966. While at Foulston, Siefkin he devoted his time to appellate practice and creditors' rights.

He has been president of the Wichita Council of Camp Fire, the Kansas chapter of the Leukemia Society of America, the Wichita Legal Aid Society, Accent on Kids (Ronald McDonald houses), the Wichita Bar Association, and a board member of Music Theatre of Wichita. In addition, he has authored several legal articles, served on the Kansas Continuing Legal Education Commission, the Kansas Bar Journal board of editors, and is a fellow of both the Kansas Bar Foundation and the American Bar Foundation. He received the Kansas Bar Association President's Outstanding Service Award in 1982 and 1995, and the Phil Lewis Medal of Distinction in 2004.

He is married to Debra S. Duncan and has a grown son, Hunter Pearse Elliott.
