Kansas Supreme Court Live and Archived Oral Arguments

Live audio can be accessed from the Supreme Court Courtroom during oral arguments which are scheduled at regular intervals throughout the year. Arguments begin promptly at 9:00 a.m. and resume in the afternoon promptly at 1:30 p.m. Concluding times vary, depending on the complexity of the cases being heard. The week's docket lists each case to be heard and the time allotted to each case. Attorneys may not use all of their allotted time, and the Court can extend time if there are questions from the bench. Live audio is only available when the Supreme Court is in session. The Kansas Supreme Court is in session the following dates:

• December 3 - 6, 2007
• January 28 - 31, 2008
• March 24 - 27, 2008
• May 12 - 15, 2008
• September 2 - 5. 2008
• October 14 - 17. 2008
• December 1 - 4, 2008

This site also includes archived arguments from past sessions of the Court listed below. Archived arguments will be available the week following live arguments.

Helpful Hints:

• A windows media player is required to access audio. Generally, Microsoft Media Player comes installed with your operating system. If not, the media player is readily available on the internet as a free download.
• If you are unable to access the audio, be aware that a firewall can block access. Check with your own technical staff if that is an issue.
• For best sound quality, use amplified speakers (ones that must be plugged into electricity).
• The number of people able to access the site at a given time will be limited by the capacity of the Judicial Center server. Try at a later time if the server is at capacity.
