Appeal No. 91,251: State v. Christopher M. Trotter

The Court, in a unanimous decision authored by Retired Justice Tyler C. Lockett, affirms the defendant's Wyandotte County convictions of first-degree murder, capital murder, aggravated robbery, and conspiracy to commit aggravated robbery, which arose from a home invasion in which the assailants expected to get $100,000.

Appeal No. 91,214: State v. Durayl Vann

The Court, in a unanimous decision authored by Justice Robert E. Davis, orders a new trial in a Kansas City, KS, shooting case that occurred at a liquor and convenience store based on the trial court's failure to consider the defendant's motion to represent himself at trial.

Appeal No. 92,478: State v. Harvey L. Ross

The Court, in a unanimous decision authored by Retired Justice Tyler C. Lockett, affirms the defendant's Sedgwick County convictions of first-degree murder and attempted first-degree murder, which arose from a shooting at a Wichita nightclub.

Appeal No. 92,510: State v. Ricky D. McGee

The Court, in a unanimous decision authored by Justice Eric S. Rosen, affirms the defendant's Wyandotte County first-degree murder conviction, rejecting his claims that his right to a speedy trial was denied and that the district court should have appointed him new counsel.

Appeal No. 92,910: State v. Charles Brown

The Court, in a unanimous decision authored by Justice Eric S. Rosen, affirms a Wyandotte County decision denying Brown's motion to correct an alleged illegal sentence for his 1996 first-degree murder conviction.

Appeal No. 91,324: In Re: Care and Treatment of Randy Foster

The Court, in a unanimous decision authored by Justice Lawton R. Nuss, orders a new trial in a Douglas County sexually violent predator proceeding based on comments by the prosecutor during opening statements.

Docket No. 95,132: In Re: Larry L. Myers

The Court orders published censure for a Garden City attorney based upon his representation in an estate matter.

Docket No. 95,133: In Re: David R. Gilman

The Court orders published censure for an Overland Park attorney for causing a proceeding to be postponed because he had been drinking prior to court.

Docket No. 95,134: In Re: Nancy L. Moore

The Court indefinitely suspends the law license of a Coffeyville attorney based on her representation in seven unrelated matters that resulted in disciplinary complaints against her.
