Certified Court Reporters Rules and Examination Information

The State Board of Examiners of Court Reporters is subject to the direction and approval of the Supreme Court. The members of the Board are appointed by the Supreme Court. The Board has general supervision over the granting of certificates of eligibility for certified court reporters and over the conduct of all court reporters holding such certificates.

The Board is responsible for reviewing and approving applications from individuals seeking certification in Kansas as a certified court reporter. Once the application is approved, the individual is notified and given information specific to the examination. Examinations are given in May and October of each year.

The Board is also responsible for reviewing and approving applications for temporary certificates and making recommendation to the Supreme Court if they feel such temporary certificate should be granted.

The Board reviews any complaint made against a certified court reporter in the State of Kansas and has discretion as to the disposition of such complaint.
